Danny Jackson Home

This was the home of Danny Jackson's family in the 1950s at 9080 Troy Pike.

This was the home of Danny Jackson's family in the mid-1950s at 9080 Troy Pike.

Jackson Barn

This tobacco barn is at 9080 Troy Pike.  According to census records from the 1940s and 1950s, white and black families lived as neighbors. Black farmers were generally owner-operators while white farmers were tenants and renters. This home was occupied by the Ritchey family in 1950.

Grave of America Wheat Caise.  9030 Troy Pike. The family cemetery was in the front yard of the family home but was moved to the back of the yard by the new owners. Family may visit, according to law.

johnston bridge

The Johnston Bridge, a community landmark.  This bridge was built in 1960 and replaced a shorter stone bridge that crossed Clear Creek in a different place and at a different angle.  It is often referred to in memories and in news articles. Groups often had picnics at the Johnston Bridge.
