In Elm Bend, visiting and staying in, preparing food, caring for others children. Church family was extended through the community. Members of the church community found a strong sense of belonging, support, and strength within belonging to the church. When services ended at church you made sure to shake a hand and speak to everyone you hadn't seen in a long time (services weren't every week but Sunday school was). Church provided meetings in the interest of families, community and more. It was a factor in the way in which the word spread for Black communities about important issues taking place.
